Transportation
The car is very often the preferred mode of transportation in Des Châtels. It is very convenient to park, and it is a rather short car ride to the closest highway, such as Autoroute Henri-IV, from anywhere in this neighbourhood. On the other hand, travelling by public transit is challenging in Des Châtels. Thankfully, house owners are served by around 20 bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally just around the corner. Des Châtels is not particularly convenient for those who travel by foot because running common errands is occasionally challenging. Cycling is also difficult in Des Châtels because there are a limited number of bike lanes, and cyclists are faced with a significant amount of elevation changes. Nonetheless, bicycling is better in certain areas than others.
Services
It is convenient to get to the closest supermarket on foot in Des Châtels. A limited number of restaurants and coffee shops are available as well. As far as education is concerned, in this part of the city, parents and their children will generally be able to get to primary schools and daycares on foot. However, there are only a few high schools and accordingly they can be an extended walk away.
Character
The character of Des Châtels is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. It is easy to reach green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are about 10 of them nearby for residents to relax in. The noise levels in this area are also reasonably low, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although that is not the case around Autoroute Henri-IV.
